Okatoma Paddling Club was formed in 2004 mainly from Gulf Coast people who wanted to get together once a year and have a group camping float. We called our group "Okatoma" Paddling Club because we always held our annual trips on Okatoma Creek in Covington County, Mississippi. Over the winter of 2011-2012, we decided to open up our group to the public and plan trips to other canoe sites around the State, while still having our annual "Okatoma" weekend. The idea for  "Canoe Mississippi" began to formulate as a couple of our members began to research canoe/kayak rental locations across the State of Mississippi.

The original plan was to gather information to plan future trips but before we knew it...we had conceived this grandiose plan of building an entire website about canoeing in our State. Fortunately, one of our members is a professional web designer/photographer who has designed several canoeing/outdoor web sites (most of the photos on this site were taken by him). We asked him if he could build a site for us but we never expected him to take it this far. All he asked for in return was a little advertising...so if anyone reading this needs professional web work, please consider clicking on one of his "Mojo Foxx" ads.

There are no membership fees, just signup with us and watch for events...or better yet, help organize a event. Also, If there is a big to-do in your neck of the woods, please let us know about it. We may want to advertise it on this site.
